I was motivated to start a blog by reading all the wonderful talented individual's who have blogs out there. So, I want to make this blog about everyone who reads it. My family and God always comes first in my life. I want to share my experiences and in turn, hope to get feedback and ideas from you. I love unique things, I adore anything that sparkles (not over the top though) I love decorating, cooking, gardening, photography and shopping. My number one passion is photography! To me it becomes more than a picture, it can become a piece of art, or a beautiful memory. Decorating, though I am not a professional, and don't claim to be, has been a part of my life since I was very young, and just love searching and shopping for new ideas and incorporate the old, such as Mid-Century Modern and Hollywood Regency with contemporary. Living close to the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, and being of Hispanic heritage, I love cooking Mexican food, and love to share my authentic recipes. Though I live in Florida, my heart is in the desert southwest, and hope that my family and I will return there very soon…keep your fingers crossed that my prayers are answered SOON!!!

Tropical Nights...




For those warm summer nights, when the pool, tiki and landscaping lights come on, the sun has just set, and you want to just sit back and relax by the quiet of the evening…what better way than to make yourself a beautiful tropical refreshing drink, whether it has alcohol in it or not, to me, besides the tropical flavor of the fruit juices or whatever you chose, the garnish just makes the drink, which can include the glass rimmers. We’ve all seen or purchased them one time or another. I’ve added a few pictures of some tropical drinks, which I just love. And for those rimmers, they are better if you make them yourself. A few that my family and I like are so simple to make and you can keep them in nice glass container and they will stay fresh for some time in the refrigerator.

Coconut Rimmer - roasted lightly coconut from the bag in the oven until golden brown. Allow to cool, place in food processor until finely ground, place in bowl and mix equal parts granulated sugar. This is great as a rimmer or lay gently on top of a Pina Colada.

Mojito Rimmer – place the green peel of 3 limes in food processor until blended to a finely course texture. Place either in the microwave to dry out, not burn. Or allow to dry naturally. Mix thoroughly with sugar to the taste you prefer.

Fruit Rimmer – select any of your favorite dried fruit, mix until finely course texture in food processor, remove as much moisture as possible, but not completely, mix thoroughly with sugar to your taste. This is great on any type of tropical drink. Again, it can be gently placed on top of the drink itself, if desired.
Sit back, relax, look at the stars and enjoy the evening!!!
